Another New Year!
Welcome to a brand new school year! Today was the first day of school and we’re rockin’ right along. We’ll be starting science tomorrow using our brand new lab! We are so excited about having it and ready to put it to good use.
I’m planning on having a student or two blog about it tomorrow – check in and see how it went!

Just Some Updates!
I mostly wanted to log in – just to be sure I remembered the log in and password – and to make sure I knew what I was doing before presenting this to my new students! It’s hard to believe that school will be starting in just a few weeks. Our school is undergoing construction and my classroom has been painted and new carpet installed. It will soon be time to get up to the classroom and start organizing and getting ready for the new year.
Along with a “new” classroom and “new” students, there are also some “new” teachers in 5th grade. It is going to be an interesting school year with some much “new”! I’m looking forward to getting to know my new coworkers and my new students.
The “new” construction will make life interesting this year, too. It’s going to cause many changes to our normal routines – so we’ll just have to see how things progress as we get ready to begin the school year. It will all be worth it, though, once everything is completed. I’m especially looking forward to the computer/science lab that will be available for students upon completion.
Ok, I don’t blame to post here a lot myself, but am looking forward to having students post messages, information, or whatever here throughout the school year. Hopefully this will be an educational experience that they will enjoy and will communicate some of the many things we do this coming year in our science, math, and social studies classes.
Check back in August and see what’s going on!

Brand New Blog, Brand New School Year!
Ok, so I am new at this, I admit it! I went to a wonderful workshop yesterday (YES, it really was great!) and one of the ideas was to start a blog on this site especially for teachers and students. Then, the teacher uses it to communicate with students and their parents. It can also be used as an assignment, with the teacher posting and the students responding. Sounds like a neat idea, so I’m certainly willing to give it a try! Maybe I’ll be lucky enough to have a blogger in my classroom next year that can teach me – cause I don’t know much about blogging!
So, I’m spending my summer going to workshops and developing new ideas for the new school year. I’ve really found some cool ideas that I’m looking forward to trying out! I’m also spending time with my youngest son, Colt, the only one still at home. My other 3 sons, Mike, Chris, and Greg are all married and I don’t even want to think about Colt starting his last year of Jr. High. The years just go by way too fast! I remember hearing my granny say that when I was just a little kid and didn’t think she knew what she was talking about. A year was a year and it lasted it a year and it sure seemed like a long time to me. Now I know what she was talking about!
Besides my workshops and spending time with Colt, I’m also finding time to spend with my grandkids. Bree will be a 6th grader and Gage will be a 3rd grader. And my baby granddaughter Kaegan is almost a year old! Bree and Gage have already spent a week with me and Kaegan is going to spend a couple of days with me soon. I can’t wait to spoil her!
Another summer project is my house. I have the extra room filled with paint, flooring, and materials to redo my house. Every room is getting painted and all the flooring replaced. I can’t wait to get it done. Then I can shop for new furniture! New living room suite, new bedroom suite, new dining room suite, new kitchen appliances, new curtains, new decorations…..now if I can just come up with the money for all of it I’ll be ready to go!
So, I better get busy – got a lot to do this summer and it’s going by fast!
